Our Mission
|
The Terezín Chamber Music Foundation (TCMF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and advancing the resilience of the human spirit as expressed in and inspired by the music and art created in the Terezín concentration camp. TCMF sponsors the commission of chamber music compositions by emerging composers. These commissions will form an ongoing contribution to the chamber music repertoire and serve as agents of inspiration, healing, and transformation in the consciousness of future generations of artists and audiences. The preservation and public accessibility of TCMF's archives, and education programs sponsored or facilitated by TCMF, support the commission and performance of these works.

Commendations

|
Václav Havel, President, Czech Republic
Using the history and music of Terezín as inspiration, the Foundation promotes tolerance and cultural understanding through music with their many educational programs. These programs paired with their extensive and unique archives, provide children and adults alike with historical context for making connections between the plight of artists in Terezín and the plight of many oppressed peoples today. I support the Terezín Chamber Music Foundation, as this unique organization has done so much internationally to highlight the unique history of Terezín and to make it relevant to today's world citizens. |

Sir Simon Rattle,Conductor and Music Director of the Berlin Philharmonic
I believe that the Terezín Chamber Music Foundation is of immense importance for discovering and propagating a wide range of wonderful music,
music which would be extraordinary enough on its own unaccompanied by its tragic history and provenance. Historically, it comes through to us
as one of the most powerful indications of the unquenchability of the human spirit and will tell its own story more powerfully than a vast
number of historical theses.

Seiji Ozawa, Conductor and Music Director of the Vienna State Opera
I feel that it is important that we support the Terezín Chamber Music Foundation in its efforts to bring this music to the public through
performance and recordings.
