Happy holidays!

Here's the lively third movement, Allegro giocoso alla Slovacca, from Erwin Schulhoff's String Quartet No. 1, performed by the Hawthorne String Quartet.

Schulhoff composed this piece when he was 30 years old, and it reflects his Czech heritage as well as a heady mix of experimental styles of the 1920s, qualities targeted by the Nazi regime.

Please enjoy — with all our best wishes for a holiday season and a new year filled with warmth, light and music. THANK YOU for all you do to help us honor and teach about the Terezín artists and their remarkable legacy. Your support makes all our work possible.
