Andre Previn. His Quintet for Horn and String Quartet will receive its American premiere at our November 11, 2019 Symphony Hall Gala titled "Our Will to Live."

Track of the Month: NOVEMBER 2019

You are listening to Boston Symphony Orchestra clarinetist Thomas Martin and the Hawthorne String Quartet performing the last movement from the Maestro's Clarinet Quintet. This TMF commission was generously sponsored by Carol and Joe Reich to honor family members, and it was published by G. Schirmer. It has quickly taken its place in the repertoire of beloved chamber works, earning great acclaim.

Join us to experience Previn's new
TMF commission

We offer this lively selection in anticipation of the American premiere of Maestro Previn's Quintet for Horn and String Quartet, at Boston's Symphony Hall November 11, 2019. The Horn Quintet is one of the last pieces The Maestro composed before his death this year, and it is a major highlight in our long friendship with him.
Tickets are here.

"It's always a pleasure to be delighted by music I encounter for the first time. But Andre Previn's Clarinet Quintet is truly special. Its lyricism, invention, and craft are constantly engaging throughout the piece, proving once again what a treasure Previn is. And Tom Martin and the Hawthorne Quartet absolutely glow in the performance."
